So, I do most of my major automation using VCAs. This is for several reasons but one thing I like is that the automation lane starts at 0db regardless of where the track fader is. But if I need to quickly automate on a track I don't always want to create a new VCA for something that requires only one or 2 moves for the whole song. Its not ideal that the envelope lane matches the track volume because when using a physical fader its a lot harder to have fine control when your starting point is at -20 or lower. I've cycled through automation modes and settings, but is there a way to add an envelope that starts at 0db while leaving the track fader untouched? Thanks.

There are various ways you might achieve this; 1) In the action list, set "SWS/BR: Options - Set "Apply trim when adding volume/pan envelopes" to "Never". Then when you activate the volume envelope in a track, it will be at zero, and the fader will stay as it was. 2) Select the track, show the volume envelope. The envelope will be something other than zero, the fader will be zero. Then do action "Track: Apply trim envelope to volume envelope, clear trim envelope". Show the volume envelope again, and it'll be level all the way at zero, and so will the fader be. You might want to hide the trim envelope after this to keep things tidy. Seems a bit of a faff, but with a few hotkey assigns and/or buttons in a toolbar it only takes a few seconds. Cheers! Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer! That first option was exactly what I needed. Much obliged.
