Playing Vsts through reaper on Mac

Hello is anyone using a keyboard /controller with a mac for reaper. I'd like to run some vsts and au through the keyboard but i don't know how to do it . i have one firewire device the m-audio 410 and one keyboard the mo8.I haven't been able to find any information on the subject . I have posted this in a regard for the pc because i was trying to help a friend with a pc. but i have a older mac and If anyone could tell me in steps what i need to do to get the keyboard to play the vst so i can record in reaper it would be fantastic. I can play audio in reaper . but how do I set it up to play the vsts and other aus through the keyboard. Please help thanks.This is driving me crazy ! Sincerely Beyondsight

The procedure is the same for win and mac. The manual should get you going. In prefs > devices, choose and enable your midi device. Create a track with the VSTi and choose track input input > midi, all channels. Rec enable the track and turn on monitoring. Now you can play the VSTi with the midi keyboard. Reaper will record midi only so you can change the instrument later on.

After fiddling around with it for 3 days... I figured t out.there was also something weird going on with my system where reaper didn't recognize the midi going through my firewire box however once I connected my keyboard via usb it worked.
