Having just got a 1995 t5 auto I have found that if I floor the accelerator when pulling away the drive appears to disengage until I back off on the throttle. If you just accelerate hard, but without flooring it, this doesn't happen. It is not fitted with TRACS and I have had the transmission fluid changed. In all other respects the transmission is fine in all modes and kicksdown when required. Any information would be of help as I am a novice with this type of car but have had a 850 2.0 20 valve manual and an old faithful 740. Is this anything to do with the torque limiter?

After checking the fluid level I found it to be very low. Having been told by the dealer that the fluid had been changed less than two weeks ago and with no obvious sign of a leak, I took it back to the dealer. His mechanics told me that they couldn't understand it as they had put in the 3.5 litres it said in the data book! I ponted out that this should have been nearer to 7.6 litres. With much shaking of heads they then put in another litre which brought the level up to the required mark on the dipstick. After trying the car again the fault was still there and so the dealer asked me to take it round to Jack Dain the transmission specialist in Whiffler Road. They said the symptoms I described are known as "flaring" and they would start off by checking out the diagnostics and then check out the four solenoid valves in the control unit on the box. Luckily this can be done with the geabox in the car. The dealer who I bought the car from is, obviously, picking up the bill for all of this!! If anybody is still interested in this saga I shall continue to upate based on any progress made.
