Intermittent fault

ref previous posts: our colleagues keep referring to plugs and points. The problem is fault code cannot be read by 2 local garages. The fault is intermittent: Symptoms are : lambda light on, rev counter doesnt work, no power, smokey, noisy. Timing feels miles out basically. Then it works fine for a minute or a day. My hunch is that there is a solenoid or other electropnic control device on its way out. Which one might it be???:speechless-smiley-6

First thing I would do would be to check the wiring loom under the radiator. This is a common failing on ALL classic s40/v40 models and can cause all manner of faults. Paul.
