I finally bought an S80 T6 Volvo 3 months ago and I love vVolvo. It is the Geartronics model and I bought it (second hand) partly because of the inbuild SAT NAV. I am now a bit disappointed because: 1) The SAT NAV never gives me the best available routes to my destination, infact the pictures and quality of the display are not comparable with modern SAT NAV. I requested Volvo to assist and give me the latest CR ROM/router but I was assured the nearest dealer will get in touch, its been over a month now, no contact. 2) Also on the SAT NAV/stereo system, the 6 CD loader at the boot will not recognise or play any of my musical CDs, so far I only listen to radio. 3) My 2 reverse lights are dead. I reckoon it could be fuse related or dead lamp; will confirm this when I go for the MOT next month, but could it be due to something else? 4) Tonight, I got a message that reads: Bulb Failure; Position Light. I checked round and found all parking lights working. Is the position light visible or hidden? Please advice. David
Try and put a cd cleaner in the boot loader, have a look at the fuses for the reverse lights and remove the rear bulb holders and check the bulbs, each side has 2 bulbs and 1 might have gone.

When checking your tail lights, make sure you actualy take the cover off. They have 2 tail lights each side, so you get an error code if one blows but when you look from the back they look like they are fine.
Confirmed, the so-called CD changer in the boot is simply for the sat nav map disc. I upgraded mine to the latest DVD and it's as good as any Tom Tom except for a) it does traffic alerts (GOOD) and b) still no postcode search (BAD). The latest Volvo sat-navs thankfully do postcode searches, however personally I don't miss it and find the Volvo system great. You don't have to plug it in, hide it and wipe away the suction marks for a start, and it's easy to operate on the move... Beats our Tom Tom that Mrs Oilburner uses, that's died after 2 short years. Load of rubbish when it did work. The only plus point being that it does use postcodes. DavidS80, I suggest that if you want the latest disc, then it is only as hard as visting your local dealer yourself! :)
if you haven't discovered, the panel lights dimmer also controls the backlight for the sat-nav - generally you need it turned right up (except at night time).
The 4 disc dashboard mounted CD player sounds like the HU801 model. I have this one in my S80 and the CDs jump when going over bumps. I have found that CD03 is best, it jumps least. I would advise trying all CD holders before giving up. You might find one that's ok. Unfortunately, an in-car entertainment specialist told me that these units usually give loads of trouble! I am saving up to buy a Volvo ipod kit, see
